Wow, it's been a while. Let me fill you in...
Break was fabulous. It was so nice to be home and see our family and friends that we miss so much up here. Spending Christmas in Italy was the best. Giulia met her great-grandma and basically ate her way through Southern Italy. I continue to be amazed by her appetite everyday. I only put a few pictures up on Facebook but if you're interested, here are more pics of the Petti's
Since we've been back in Ithaca, we've been freezing :) So we took a trip to equally-cold Chicago to visit Summer, Max and the girls. Summer is such a great mom! Lara is just beautiful and such a happy little girl. And Marley is incredible...she is so funny and bright. Giulia was completely fascinated by her. If she saw Marley do something, she had to do it too. For example, Marley uses the potty - a concept Giulia was not been very receptive to. However, since we've been back in Ithaca, she's become obsessed with the potty....but not for her own use. I walked into her bathroom yesterday to find her shoving "Hokey Pokey Elmo" down the potty. Thank goodness his plastic leg wouldn't go down, but still...it was a mess. I had to try so hard not to laugh and explain that potties are for people, not for Elmo or baby or doggie or the other inanimate objects she thinks can use the potty. There's just no "how-to" books for how to handle situations like this...
And the new words she comes out with everyday are amazing! But when she says them I have to repeat them back to her - immediately. And if I get them wrong, I get yelled at :( It's like being in school and cringing when the teacher calls on you for an answer that you just don't know because you read the Cliff's Notes and not the actual book. I try but it's so hard..."cream" sounds just like "clean." And I have no idea when she is saying "pear" or "bear." This morning I really thought she just wanted to cuddle with her teddy bear...until she threw a temper tantrum outside the refrigerator. Yup, she wanted a pear. Oops.
Ah, the life of a stay-at-home mommy of a toddler. It can drive you nuts...but I wouldn't trade it for the world :)
